Another offspring of the family of painter Joža Úprka is the family of Josef Benedík, potter from Hroznová Lhota. From clay dug up in the neighbourhood of the village, moulded by his hands, he creates mugs and ceramics – sometimes he tries to follow-up with painted folk ceramics (faience), another time he gets down to classic pottery or free creation inspired by folk colourfulness. As the custom is in this region, objects of every day use can become an encouragement for eyes and heart.
The visit to the ceramic shop can be combined with making your own clay pot, perhaps for morning coffee.
